Munich is increasingly developing into a digitization, sustainability & corporate startup metropolis. At the center of our Deep Dive learning journey from 22 to June 23, 2023. The focus was therefore on exploring this development process and the question of what exactly we can learn from the city on the Isar in terms of innovation. The stops on our trip therefore included the Werksviertel-Mitte urban quarter (Bavaria’s largest startup incubator, where sustainable urban development is being tested and researched), the Fraunhofer IAO PionierHUB, Munich Re and the BMW Startup Garage in Garching. A workshop in the Ferris wheel and an interactive exchange on AI topics enriched the program, as did the discussion of current use cases from HATZ, HYVE, Beiersdorf, Bosch Innovation Consulting, Siemens and iteratec. The 30 or so participating innovation leaders from the mobility, energy, industry, construction, IT, banking and agricultural sectors also ensured that the aim of the trip – to look beyond one’s own nose – was more than achieved: exciting cross-industry insights were exchanged and deepened in personal discussions. We are therefore already looking forward to the next deep dives.
